Homemade Goodness

I have been buying fresh cows milk for the last couple weeks and boy have we been enjoying that!!  I love seeing all the cream that rises to the top of my glass milk jug. I asked my mother what can I make with all this cream and she said—“BUTTER” so that has been something we are perfecting, after it sits outside in a glass quart jar for about 16-24 hours and gets all good and sour its time to churn it…she ( my mother) shakes her jar til it forms butter but I use my Kitchen-aid mixer  letting it do all the work for me!!  This link from Pinterest was the one my mother used to make her butter she followed the instructions and we have been enjoying our wonderful butter

This is the link I pinned for making butter in a mixer

Its so easy and you will be amazed at how good it tastes compared to store bought butter…Enjoy and let me know how it turns out!

Be Blessed and Be Thankful for a  Farmer for Fresh Milk!!

Laundry ! aka Wash Day!!

Today is laundry day…of course I have to work on laundry everyday…but Mondays are my main day just for laundry!  I try to get at least 3 loads of laundry done every Monday and just a load done on other days…..How many people live in my house to have that much laundry??? Just 4 I don’t know where it comes from…my teenage son takes a shower puts on new clothes to “lounge” in then changes clothes again to go to bed…? WHY?!?!? I dunno! My 7 year old son changes clothes no less than 3 times a day….but Lord forbid he finds a “new” favorite shirt or shorts he can wear them all day every day for 3 weeks ….yup Laundry day!!!:)  My boys are also the worst at not hanging up their wet towels …meaning they smell mildew how do you get that smell out you might ask?!?!? Vinegar is my go to for all my cleaning problems…both of  my boys have allergies and asthma so I can’t use perfume smelling chemicals …So thank God For Vinegar !! What do you use for mildew thats also good for you? Let me know:)

Bible Study About Vinegar!!

Vinegar, from the French vin aigre, meaning sour wine, is used to translate the Hebrew word of the Old Testament, pronounced koe-metz, meaningpungent or fermented, and the Greek word of the New Testament, pronounced ox-os, meaning sour wine. During Bible History, vinegar was usually produced from grapes, however it can be made from any liquid which is capable of being converted into alcohol; the sugar in the liquid (such as fruit juice) when combined with the suitable yeast produces alcohol and carbon dioxide gas i.e. wine. When exposed to the air, the alcohol in the wine, by means of certain bacteria, combines with oxygen to form acetic acid and water i.e. vinegar.GrapesVinegar In The Bible

Nazirites  were prohibited from consuming vinegar:

“And The Lord said to Mosrs, “Say to the people of Israel, When either a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to The Lord, he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink; he shall drink no vinegar made from wine or strong drink, and shall not drink any juice of grapes or eat grapes, fresh or dried. All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, not even the seeds or the skins” (Numbers 6:1-4 RSV)

Vinegar was also used as a condiment:

“And at mealtime Boaz said to her, “Come here, and eat some bread, and dip your morsel in the wine [the original Hebrew word was forvinegar]” So she sat beside the reapers, and he passed to her parched grain; and she ate until she was satisfied” (Ruth 2:14 RSV)

Vinegar was offered to Jesus Christ, twice, as He was crucified. The first, which He refused, was a mixture of vinegar and a narcotic herb which had pain-killing effects, while the second, which He accepted, was likely the common drink of workers and soldiers known as posca, which was a mixture of vinegar, water and eggs:

The first:

“As they went out, they came upon a man of Cyrene, Simon by name; this man they compelled to carry His cross . And when they came to a place called Golgotha , which means the place of a skull, they offered Him wine to drink, mingled with gall; but when He tasted it, He would not drink it. And when they had crucified Him, they divided His garments among them by casting lots; then they sat down and kept watch over Him there.” (Matthew 27:32-36 RSV)

The second:

“When the soldiers had crucified Jesus they took His garments and made four parts, one for each soldier; also His tunic . But the tunic was without seam, woven from top to bottom; so they said to one another, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see whose it shall be.” This was to fulfil the Scripture, “They parted My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots.” So the soldiers did this.””But standing by the cross of Jesus were His mother , and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene . When Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing near, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.”

“After this Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said, to fulfil the Scripture, “I thirst.” A bowl full of vinegar stood there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegar on hyssop and held it to His mouth. When Jesus had received the vinegar, He said, “It is finished”; and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.” (John 19:23-30 )

This Little Light Of Mine!!!

Still no sun only rain…not that I’m complaining much …We tried to let off Fireworks in the rain

it wasn’t a complete failure but it wasn’t as much fun either….I did accomplish one thing tho….I got my home school schedule done for the first couple months now lets see how that works out.  I’m looking forward to school starting back and following a schedule my life is in chaos without a schedule …how do you mothers with more than one child do this. You all are my heroes!!.   My goal this year is to have more patience and to rely on God more and myself less…I know He is the only thing that’s constant in this world…in my life..I feel I put Him last so many times…I pray that I can carry a light for Christ that everyone I meet can see it in me …

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

I also ask that we pray for our Country it needs it now more than ever!!

Be Blessed…Lori
